The NNAUSA Village Primary School Improvement (VPSI) project was founded in 2008 by Dr. Elelenta Elele’s administration. Its primary goal is to prevent the deterioration of village primary schools in Ngwa/Ukwa land through the rehabilitation of damaged infrastructure and by providing essential instructional materials (such as support for schools without roofs, walls, furniture, and other basic resources). Assistance may also include the provision of books, computers, uniforms, and other essentials critical for ensuring continued access to primary education.

The VPSI project comprises of three key components: technical assistance, instructional material support, and infrastructure development. Each year, the initiative supports one primary school from each of the nine local governments through a lottery held at the annual convention. Funding for the program comes from NNAUSA members through yearly dues and voluntary fundraising efforts.
